JSC Isotope Promptly Delivers Fludeoxyglucose (F-18) in Moscow
JSC Isotope has successfully delivered pharmaceutical F-18-fludeoxyglucose from N. N. Blokhin Cancer Research Center to the clinic JSC Medicina.
F-18-fludeoxyglucose (FDG) is a short-lived pharmaceutical with a half-life of about 110 minutes. It is used in nuclear medicine for cancer diagnostics via positron emission tomography (PET). Because of its short half-life (less than 2 hours) FDG must be delivered to clinics as quickly as possible, in order not to lose its activity before the injection into a patient's body for PET study. It makes FDG delivery extremely difficult taking into account problematic city traffic.
Due to coordinated actions of logistics and medical isotopes departments, JSC Isotope managed to fulfill this difficult task. The time and route of transportation were chosen so as to avoid Moscow traffic jams, which allowed to deliver FDG just in time.
